Hamilton Sports Complex is named after former parks director Claude Hamilton. Rosenbaugh Park is named after Wanda Rosenbaugh and her husband Merlyn Rosenbaugh. Mabrey Park is also known as Fireman’s Park because they helped put the park together. Mabrey Park is named after former mayor of forty years – Wilson Mabrey. Watson Park named after former city attorney De Vere Watson. Honor him and his devotion to our city by referring to Mabrey Lane and Mabrey Park. So please help us educate those that are new to the community or those that don’t remember or know of Wilson Mabrey and his commitment to our community. It is an honor to have a park and a street named after a historical figure. There are so many stories and memories of this man that helped make Carter Lake the City that it is today. He spent forty years of his life working for the community and its citizens. Mabrey was Mayor of Carter Lake from April 1934 to January 1974. Both the Park and the Lane are named after a former Mayor, Wilson E. From time to time we hear someone refer to Mabrey Lane as Mayberry Lane, or Mabrey Park as Mayberry Park.
